Winston Prep – Healthy Brain Network Collaboration

Posted on:

Bringing no-cost mental health evaluations to the community and
innovation to the field of child and adolescent mental health and learning.

During the Spring and Summer of 2017, Winston Prep School leadership and Child Mind Institute researchers embarked on a partnership. You can hear why we wanted to work together in the Winston Innovation Lab video below.

The Healthy Brain Network – a community-based research initiative of the Child Mind Institute – is advancing the science of the developing brain by creating a large scale, open dataset (think data from 10,000 participants shared with the world’s top researchers) meant to explore relationships between mental health and learning disorders, and brain and body characteristics. Partnership with Winston Prep is a great fit because of the Winston Prep commitment to research-informed education and use of assessments to gain an understanding of students as individuals and to tailor the curriculum to their individual needs.

The Healthy Brain Network puts an emphasis on delivering value to participants right now. Winston Prep families benefit from this partnership through fast access to Healthy Brain Network evaluations – the study provides no-cost study-related mental health and learning evaluations to children ages 5-21 and connects families with community resources.  Families that opt to share their child’s results and recommendations with Winston Prep staff see those implemented in his or her Winston Prep School plan.
